Ford Vietnam said that the new Ranger version has been upgraded synchronously on many versions, in which the equipment of a 10-speed automatic transmission throughout the product range is noteworthy. The 2.0L diesel engine has also been improved in some technical details to achieve more stable operation and optimize maintenance costs during use.
In addition to changes in the powertrain, the model is supplemented with some equipment in terms of comfort, connectivity and driver assistance systems on each version.
Ford's upgrade move takes place in the context that the pickup truck segment in Vietnam continues to have competition between many models such as Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Navara. If previously this group of vehicles mainly served the needs of transporting goods or work at construction sites, agriculture, and forestry, in recent years, car manufacturers have expanded their development orientation towards more versatility.
Not only maintaining carrying capacity and operating in many off-road conditions, new generation pickup models are also supplemented with active safety technology, driver assistance systems, large entertainment screens, smartphone connectivity and many amenities that previously only appeared on SUVs or tourist cars.
In addition to equipment, manufacturers also focus on factors that directly affect usage costs such as engine and gearbox improvements, fuel consumption optimization, extended warranty periods and expansion of after-sales service networks. This is considered the main competitive trend of the pickup segment in recent years.
Demand for pickup trucks in Vietnam has also changed. In addition to business customers or business households, more and more individual users are choosing this car line thanks to its large ground clearance, ability to move on many road conditions, wide luggage space and versatility to serve both work and daily travel needs.
In that context, the fact that manufacturers continuously upgrade products shows that competition in the pickup segment is no longer only focused on engine power or cargo handling, but shifting to operating experience, safety technology, comfort and total ownership costs throughout the life cycle of the car. These are also criteria that consumers are increasingly interested in when choosing a pickup model.
