On July 2nd, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Sao Vang Commune Trade Union, Thanh Hoa province, said that on the morning of the same day, hundreds of workers at Long Yi Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. collectively stopped working to petition about welfare regimes.

The incident happened at about 8 am on the same day. At about 10 am, after being propagated and explained by the inter-sectoral force and company representatives, the workers stopped gathering and left, waiting for the company to respond.
According to representatives of Sao Vang Commune Trade Union, workers mainly questioned some contents such as salary increases, overtime pay, gasoline and vehicle support and insurance regimes.
“After receiving workers' questions, functional forces and the company have considered and reviewed them. Through initial review, the company's payment of regimes is basically guaranteed. Workers believe that some regimes of the company are lower than other companies, this may stem from workers comparing information about regimes between businesses in the area. However, in reality, the regimes between companies in the area are basically similar” - a representative of Sao Vang Commune Trade Union informed.
According to a representative of Sao Vang Commune Trade Union, Long Yi Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. currently has about 700 workers. After the morning collective work stoppage, by the afternoon of July 2, workers had not yet come to work because they were waiting for a response notice from the company.
