The 1905- renamed car is one of a total of 2,500 Porsche 911 Dakars produced globally. This is a special edition of the Porsche 911 - a famous sports car model with a history of more than 60 years. The 911 Dakar was developed to adapt well to many types of terrain, bringing a more diverse driving experience to users.
In Vietnam, an experienced businessman has chosen to use this sports car model for practical journeys, including 3 long trips to China, with a total distance of up to tens of thousands of kilometers. The most recent trip alone took the car's meter more than 20,000 km.
Up to now, the car's meter has reached 83,888 km - a figure that is not popular with a 2022 luxury sports car model. However, this also reflects the spirit that Porsche wanted when developing the 911 Dakar version, which is to create a car that can accompany its owner on many routes, instead of only appearing at events or being kept in collections.
Sharing about the journey, the owner said that there are beautiful routes, easy to travel, but there are also many sections that make SUV models cautious. Among them, it is worth mentioning the road from Boten to Muang Xay (Laos), only 90 km long but takes more than 3 hours to travel due to the severely damaged road surface and many trucks passing by. In those conditions, the Porsche 911 Dakar still operates stably, although the appearance after the journey cannot avoid getting stuck in mud.
This Porsche 911 Dakar may not be a dedicated off-road vehicle, but through its practical use, the car shows the impressive flexibility and durability of a high-end sports car when used for the right purpose of the experience.
