Information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Da Nang City Police said that since Da Nang and Quang Nam officially merged, the issuance of new motor vehicle license plates in the area will have notable changes: people can be issued license plates 92 - of Quang Nam (old) or 43 - of Da Nang (old) randomly, regardless of their previous residence.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thanh Hong - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Da Nang City Police - said that the new regulations are based on Circular No. 51/2024 of the Ministry of Public Security, issued on June 30, amending and supplementing Circular 79/2024 on the process of issuing and revoking vehicle registration and license plates.
People are not required to change the existing license plate code. If the procedures for transferring or exchanging the license plates are not followed, the issued license plates will remain valid.
"The license plate has now been identified according to each citizen. Administrative merger does not lose the value of issued license plates. At the same time, the issuance of the new license plate is now random, no longer distinguishing administrative boundaries as before" - Mr. Hong emphasized.
Specifically, when people come to register a new vehicle, the software system managed by the Ministry of Public Security will provide a list of randomly available license plates. People in the Quang Nam area could previously quite get their license plate number 43; on the contrary, people in the old Da Nang area could also own the license plate number 92.
In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Hong also informed that vehicle registration has now become more convenient. People can go to any commune or ward police headquarters in Da Nang city (including 93 communes and wards - not including Hoang Sa special park) to complete procedures to register cars and motorbikes. In addition, people can go directly to the Traffic Police Department in Hoa Xuan Ward or facility 2 in Ban Thach Ward to do the implementation.
