According to Lao Dong, the prolonged rain on the evening of July 5 caused many roads in Da Nang to be deeply submerged in water. In particular, Thanh Vinh market area (Lien Chieu ward) was affected, many kiosks in the market were still covered with mud and soil this afternoon, causing heavy damage.
Notably, the area around the market became even muddy after the flood, and the water was still stagnant and became a large swamp. In the market, many traders have to close their stalls to dredge mud, clean, and focus on cleaning.

The floodwaters poured in so quickly that many traders such as Ms. Do Thi Bon (selling accessories and clothes at Thanh Vinh market) could not manage.
Ms. Bon said that last night it rained heavily, her stall was wet and a bag of clothes was washed away. When the floodwaters rose, Ms. Bon's husband was worried, so he helped her move her belongings to another place, raising them to higher ground to avoid damage.
"I have been trading in the market for 18 years, many traders here just hope to upgrade, build a high market surface or can regularly dredge sewers to make drainage easier. I didn't think we would have to flee the flood in the middle of summer" - Ms. Bon said.

Not far away, Ms. Phan Thi Kim Chi (a household goods trader at Thanh Vinh market) shared that last night, traders struggled in the water to pick up their belongings, but today they have to close their doors to clear the mud.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Kim Chi, due to being unable to react, many of the traders' items were swept away by the water. In particular, goods such as blankets, pillows, showers, and electronic items are very difficult to sell if water is seeping into them or they are broken.
Goods such as soap and scented wax cannot be moved to high ground or soaked in water and cannot be sold.

According to traders, Thanh Vinh market area is located in a low-lying area. Every time there is heavy rain, the water flows down quickly, draining out in time, causing frequent flooding.
Many stores around the market have to rent premises for business, so they have to live with flooding because they cannot repair or raise the foundation themselves.
