With investment from the Volkswagen Group, Scout returns to the "race" as a brand specializing in electric vehicles. The new models launched by the company this time are the Traveler SUV and the Terra pickup truck.
The design of Traveler and Terra is considered quite similar. Both have a strong and impressive appearance. The front of the models is equipped with large skid plates, black grille, headlights and minimalist daytime running lights. The company's logo is placed on the right side of the grille, like the signature of a work of art.
The rear of the Traveler can accommodate a spare tire. LED taillights appear on both models, but the Terra has a more complex design.
Although the company has not revealed the capacity of the models, with a torque of nearly 1,355 Nm, the models can accelerate from 0-97 km/h in just about 3.5 seconds. The advanced 800 V platform allows the models to travel 563 km/charge, supporting 350 kW fast charging according to NACS standards.
According to the company, both Terra and Traveler are developed on a separate chassis platform. The models have a cargo capacity of up to 907 kg; a towing capacity of 4,535 kg for the Terra model and 3,175 kg for the Traveler. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with off-road features such as: tires designed up to 35 inches; ground clearance of 304 mm and wading capacity of up to 914 mm.
The car has a simple interior design with a 2-spoke steering wheel and a digital dashboard. Customers have the option of a front bench seat and a pull-out tray in the glove compartment.
Scout focuses on two new models with an adventurous style, suitable for customers who do a lot of outdoor work. Both new models have a spacious front trunk with the ability to provide power to many electronic devices and household appliances through 120V and USB-C outlets.
According to the company, all Scout models will be produced at Volkswagen's plant in South Carolina, USA. The starting price for both Terra and Traveler is expected to be under $60,000. After applying incentives, the price of the models can be reduced to $50,000.
