Recently, the General Department of Competition, Consumption and Fraud Control of France has just asked Tesla to stop violations in the country's market.
Previously, in the agency's investigation since early 2023, Tesla had committed "fraudulent commercial" acts, "violating and causing disadvantages to consumers, violating the law". One of the most notable violations is fraud related to Tesla's autonomous driving support feature.
Accordingly, in France, the Tesla Model Y is equipped with a standard Autopilot system. If you want to upgrade, users will have to spend an additional 3,800 EUR, equivalent to 4,413 USD for the upgraded version. For a full-fledged driving assistance system, the upgrade cost is up to 7,500 EUR (about 8,708 USD).
However, this fully automatic driving feature is not as " marketed". With users' allegations, French regulators have issued judgments, demanding that Tesla stop violations or be fined 50,000 EUR/day (58,057 USD/day) if it continues to commit fouls.
In addition, a series of other violations include sales contracts that do not clearly state the date, deadline or delivery location, do not mention credit payment, do not provide valid receipts, do not refund on time for orders and lack of delivery information.
