The behind-the-scenes video of the Cybertruck's collision tests was released by Tesla about a month after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had its final reports and rated Cybertruck as a 5-star model.
To help the electric pickup truck overcome the challenges, the American automaker has made some changes to improve safety. The parts that have been changed include seamless large-displacement casting to prevent overturning to optimize passenger safety.
Through the evaluation process, Cybertruck has won 5 stars in the overall safety rating. However, if considered according to each separate test, there is a category of this model that is only 4 stars, which is the ability to prevent overturning. The frontal collision test was conducted by a total of 5 stars.
The vehicle model that will be inspected this time is Cybertruck Cyberbeast 2024 and will be implemented in December 2024. Some observations in the front barrier collision test showed that 100% of the windshield was kept and was not penetrated into the protected area. In addition, the driver's and passenger's doors were closed throughout the collision and could operate after the collision.
In the list of NHTSA, Cybertruck is not the only electric pickup truck to reach 5 stars because the Ford F-150 Lightning model also achieved the highest safety rating. Currently, other competitors such as: Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, GMC Hummer EV and Rivian R1T have not been ranked.
