Toyota announced that it will stop producing the models: Corolla Axio sedan, Corolla Fielder wagon and the driver training school model (based on the Corolla Axio model) by the end of October 2025. In Japan, the starting price of the Agio Corolla model is only from 1.639 million yen (about 278 million VND). This price is much cheaper than the Corolla model sold on the international market.
The Corolla Axio sedan and Fielder wagon are versions for the Japanese market and are smaller than the global version, produced since 2012. This model has undergone upgrades in 2015, 2017 and 2022, but the changes are insignificant.
According to Toyota Japan's official website, the Corolla Agio has a starting price of 1,639,600 yen (about 278 million VND), while the Corolla Fielder wagon is from 1,786,400 yen (about 300 million VND). Meanwhile, the current generation Corolla sedan (E210) has a starting price of 2,028,600 yen (about 341 million). Corolla Agio and Fielder have low prices, largely due to limited equipment, mainly targeting corporate customers and the elderly, as well as being used at driving schools.
After 13 years, the Corolla Agio still has a 5-speed manual transmission - rare for new models and one of the few models with a length of less than 4,700 mm and a width of 1,700 mm. In particular, Corolla Agio is the last 5-speed manual transmission sedan to be bought in Japan.
Although Toyota did not mention the reason, according to analysts, the company's production is said to stop to focus on current versions such as the Corolla (sedan version) and the Corolla Touring ( wagon version).
