Lao Dong entered my life when I was a student . I interned at the most prestigious newspaper in Vietnam. After that, I went through the trial and training process and became an official reporter. The destination of a 21 year old girl with many dreams is sometimes just a small name tag on her chest.
Name tag on chest
I cannot forget the day the leader of the Department of Culture and Sports announced that he had officially signed a contract. I share that joy with my husband - a relative and also a friend who has followed me throughout my journey as a journalist. He answered briefly: "Remember to wear your name tag, don't forget it."
Not long after, I was officially given my name badge next to the logo of Lao Dong Newspaper. I have never forgotten that name tag when I left home. Deep down in my thoughts, it was a pride. I understand the value Labor can bring through a nameplate. Many difficult characters - agreed to exchange and chat with young reporters like me just because the name tag was always pinned on their shirt like a small passport.
The nameplate of Lao Dong Newspaper represents the long struggle of a student from the remote Central Highlands region to study in the capital. Starting from posts on social networks where the salary was only enough to buy a sandwich for lunch, to articles on news sites that helped me pay for an extra cup of coffee, now articles can help. I take care of my home and beyond, serving my readers.
Sometimes, I smile when I look at the small but meaningful yellow nameplate. In the living room of my small apartment, a "small but powerful" metal plate is placed next to many other business cards and equipment for work. It deserves a very solemn position.
Family pride
My mother is a government official who is devoted to the people and ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands. I was not taught to get rich at any cost, but to work with my heart, not wrongly for money. Journalism - a arduous but cherished profession, that's what my mother said when I was still in my hometown.
Talking a little about Labor, I learned about the newspaper by accident. My parents buy newspapers every morning and Lao Dong is one of the newspapers that appears the most. At the age of 10, I may not have understood much about the content or deep implications of the stories in the newspaper, but I was able to unleash my imagination with each sentence in the sports section.
I inherited my love of football from my family. I wonder how I can meet and talk to famous players or coaches? Turns out, the answer is so close yet so far away. Go do journalism!
In high school, I was determined to pursue my dream of becoming a sports reporter and I expressed it on social networks. I also followed a lot of sports reporters on Facebook - people who have now become my colleagues.
When I entered the university gate, I followed many other journalists. Coincidentally, one of them was journalist Hoang Lam - who later still sometimes "scolded" me every morning.
After studying forever, it's time to find a path. I started interning at Lao Dong Newspaper. Needless to say, my parents were very happy. My mother shared my first piece of news about Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club on her personal page and urged everyone to read it.
But, how to get printed articles for my father to read every morning outside the coffee shop? I have to wait until 2021, when the shocking article about the salary debt of the Quang Ninh Coal Club will be published serially in the Daily Labor Newspaper. I called and informed my father. He read and took a photo of the article to send to many friends.
I am really happy with the care from my family. The day I went through the "tests" and before the official contract was signed, my father-in-law kept calling and asking about the situation. He has been a loyal reader of Lao Dong newspaper for more than 20 years.
My relatives are proud to have a young reporter working at Lao Dong - a newspaper that has turned 95 years old. Every day, every hour, I continue to dedicate myself to the principle of pursuing the truth, bringing every piece of information. to readers and towards many good values for society. My mother always advised me to master my skills and be meticulous in my work.
“It's not just readers whose names I don't know or have never met, there are many relatives who believe in my articles. They are very happy to know a journalist,” the mother said.
Family is in my heart, Lao Dong's small nameplate is also pinned on the left chest - where the heart is. Labor is a part of my life, my second family. Happy 95th birthday - great friend named Lao Dong.
