Regarding the incident in Dong Nai, on March 25, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet - Vice President of the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation directly worked with the Board of Directors, the grassroots Trade Union of Texma Vina Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park) and employee Le Thi Kieu Oanh on complaints related to job transfers that were not in accordance with the agreement.
After considering the content of the complaint and the opinions of the employees, the enterprise agreed to rearrange Ms. Oanh to the QA position as before. This is a positive result, closing a case that has caused much public outrage in recent days.
Of course, labor disputes like Ms. Oanh's case are not isolated cases.
In the labor environment in industrial parks, conflicts related to job transfer, working conditions or workers' rights still occasionally occur.
And in such situations, workers are often at a weaker position. Because not everyone is knowledgeable enough about the law or qualified enough to pursue complaints to the end, especially female workers who are pregnant, both under working pressure and facing health concerns.
Without timely support, many people may choose to remain silent or accept the disadvantage.
It is in that context that the role of the Trade Union organization becomes clear. Not only is it a place to care for life, the Trade Union is also a representative to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers. From grassroots trade unions to superior trade unions, when involved at the right time, it can create the necessary balance in labor relations.
In Ms. Oanh's case, the Trade Union's coordination to work directly with businesses and workers has contributed to removing obstacles on the basis of dialogue. When there is a representative organization standing out, the voice of workers is heard more fully, and requests are also considered within the framework of law and responsibilities of the parties.
Along with the Trade Union, the press - especially Lao Dong Newspaper - has promoted its role as an information channel, social supervision, as well as protecting the legitimate rights of workers. The timely and objective reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper not only helps clarify the case but also creates more motivation for relevant parties to soon have appropriate handling directions.
The coordination between the Trade Union and the press in this case shows that a mechanism to protect workers is operating effectively with the detection of problems, speaking out, dialogue and resolving transparently and responsibly.
From the case of a pregnant female worker being sent to a security room in Dong Nai, the lesson learned is that when the Trade Union truly promotes its representative role and the press does a good job of reflecting, the rights of workers will have more support.
That is also the foundation for building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises.
