Severe fatigue due to dengue fever
Patient T.T. L, 72 years old (O Dien commune, Hanoi) is being treated for dengue fever at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Previously, she had a fever, fatigue and was diagnosed with dengue fever at a local medical facility.
After 2 days of being instructed to monitor her health at home but the condition did not improve, she went to a medical facility and was hospitalized for treatment. After a day of treatment at the lower level, the patient was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. L said that her family has 3 people with dengue fever. In addition to her, a granddaughter who is studying at university and a boy in 3rd grade are also sick. She and her granddaughter had to be hospitalized for treatment due to severe fatigue and bleeding.
Also being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Ms. D. T. H (Lien Minh commune, Hanoi) said that initially she had a high fever of 39.5 degrees Celsius. After that, due to severe fatigue, she went to a local medical facility for examination and was diagnosed with dengue fever and transferred to a higher level.
According to Ms. H, in the early days, her body was tired, sometimes healthy, sometimes weak. After 3 days of treatment at the hospital, her health gradually improved.
Warning of increased risk of dengue fever after rain
Recorded at the Department of Viruses - Parasitology, Central Tropical Diseases Hospital, doctors said that dengue fever has only appeared sporadically this year, and there is no tendency to concentrate in a few specific localities.
BSCKII Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Head of the Department of Viruses - Parasitology, Central Tropical Diseases Hospital - said that it is now the beginning of the rainy season. After rain, mosquitoes and viruses have conditions to develop, leading to an increased risk of dengue fever cases.
Therefore, during the epidemic season, people need to pay attention to the symptoms of the disease and proactively go for examination when abnormal signs appear.
When symptoms appear such as fever, fatigue, body aches, headache, eye socket pain, bleeding out such as nosebleeds, bleeding gums, external bleeding, in more severe cases, blood may be vomited, black stools," BSCKII Nguyen Thanh Binh said.
Dr. Binh also recommends that, in addition to mosquito control measures, people can proactively learn and discuss with doctors about getting vaccinated against dengue fever, suitable for age, health condition and current recommendations.
