On September 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Health Sector Job Fair program for the 4th time in 2026 took place at Long Dat Regional Health Center (Long Dien commune, Ho Chi Minh City) attracting nearly 1,000 people who are doctors, nurses, midwives, medical techniques... participating in applying.
Including 273 doctors who have just completed the pilot program at the General Hospital associated with the Health Station - Course 4, and have been granted practicing licenses.
The program also attracted 94 medical facilities including general hospitals, specialized hospitals, medical centers, and health stations to participate in recruitment with 814 job positions, including 332 doctors and 482 nurses, midwives, and medical techniques.
Through the program, young doctors quickly find suitable workplaces, and it is also an opportunity for medical facilities to supplement personnel.
Notably, among the 273 young doctors who have just completed the pilot program of Ho Chi Minh City, 62 doctors have registered to receive assignments in areas far from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Among them, 21 doctors registered to go to medical facilities in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas (including 2 doctors who volunteered to work in Con Dao); 41 doctors went to other remote areas with many difficulties such as Can Gio, Thanh An, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon.
Applying to Ba Ria General Hospital (Tam Long ward, Ho Chi Minh City), female doctor Ly Thuy Vy (born in 2000, residing in Dong Nai) said that because she had the opportunity to practice at a medical facility in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City, she loved and chose this area to apply.
Dr. Lam Thi Huynh Nhu (choosing to register at Vinh Loc Commune Health Station) said that she wishes to continue to be attached to grassroots healthcare and participate in medical examination and treatment activities to contribute to the community.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that the Job Fair has a very simple but very practical meaning, which is a place that needs doctors to meet doctors who need a place to start, to contribute and to develop their careers.
In the current context, Ho Chi Minh City is developing a multi-level, multi-polar, multi-center healthcare system with the goal of bringing healthcare capacity closer to the people.
To do this, the decisive factor is still people. A strong healthcare system not only needs good doctors concentrated in end-line hospitals, but also needs capable doctors at gateway hospitals, regional hospitals, especially ward and commune health stations - the closest to the people, where people need continuous and long-term primary health care.
The best place for a young doctor to start a career does not necessarily have to be a very large hospital or a hospital right in the city center. It could be a gateway hospital, a regional hospital or medical center, and even more likely a health station that desperately needs to add doctors," Mr. Thuong emphasized.
According to Mr. Thuong, in places that need them, young doctors have more opportunities to work, be assigned responsibilities, learn from practice and gradually affirm their abilities. And importantly, there is the companionship of end-line hospitals, rotational training programs, professional transfer and an entire Ho Chi Minh City healthcare system that is increasingly closely connected.
