On November 8, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen had a working session with central hospitals, provincial and municipal health departments, and provincial general hospitals... nationwide on bidding and purchasing of drugs and medical equipment for medical examination and treatment.
According to Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen, the Ministry of Health issued Document No. 5882/BYT-KHTC to the Department of Health of provinces and cities and health departments of ministries and branches requesting reports on the shortage of drugs and medical equipment, difficulties and obstacles in the bidding and procurement process, and proposals and recommendations.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health requested localities and units to review and give opinions on the shortage of drugs for medical examination and treatment in the recent past.
As of November 6, 2024, the Ministry of Health has received reports from 46 localities, while 17 provinces and cities have not yet reported. If no reports are received within the prescribed time, it is understood that the locality or unit does not lack medicine or medical equipment.
Representatives of the Department of Health of the North, Central, South, Southwest, Central Highlands and Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Central Maternity Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, Da Nang C Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Thong Nhat Hospital, Can Tho Central General Hospital... all affirmed that the complete guidelines on procurement and bidding for basic drugs have removed many difficulties and obstacles in the bidding and procurement of drugs and medical supplies.
The Ministry of Health is implementing the issuance of guidelines for classifying medical equipment according to technical and quality standards and will complete it in the third quarter of 2025 under the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister.

To continue ensuring adequate medicine and medical equipment for medical examination and treatment, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen requested hospitals and Departments of Health of provinces and cities to continue studying and implementing institutional guidelines on bidding and procurement to apply in the implementation process to ensure compliance with regulations.
