On January 16, Vung Tau General Hospital informed that for the first time, the hospital successfully performed an artificial anus surgery using endoscopic method, with professional support from Gia Dinh People's Hospital.
Patient B.T.D (female, born in 1958, Tam Thang ward) had previously undergone emergency surgery due to ruptured colon and artificial anus. After a period of treatment and monitoring, when her health condition stabilized, clinical and paraclinical indicators were guaranteed, on January 15, the patient was prescribed by doctors to have artificial anus closed surgery. Notably, this surgery was performed using endoscopy - a first-time technique deployed at Vung Tau General Hospital.

The surgery was performed by BS.CKII Ngo Quang Duy - Deputy Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, and the team of Vung Tau General Hospital. The surgery took place smoothly and safely, after surgery the patient was awake, had good contact and stable signs.
BS.CKII Ngo Quang Duy said that laparoscopic surgery helps minimize invasion, reduce pain, and shorten recovery time, especially for elderly patients or those who have had abdominal surgery.
The successful implementation of this technique not only improves treatment efficiency in the locality but also affirms professional cooperation between hospitals, contributing to improving the capacity of the medical staff, reducing the burden on the upper level and serving patients right in the locality.
