On January 15, Vung Tau General Hospital announced that it had just successfully performed surgery to combine the maxillofacial bone (the cheekbone area in the left continuous arc), with direct professional support from Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology - the leading unit in the city.
This is the first time this type of surgery has been successfully performed in the locality. This has marked an important step forward in the field of treatment of facial maxillofacial injury in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, patient N.G.B (born in 2006) was admitted to the hospital on January 12 in a state of severe injuries to the jaw and face. Through clinical examination and diagnostic imaging, doctors determined that the patient had a fracture of the left cheekbone and a fracture of the root canal bone in the R21-22 region, seriously affecting eating and chewing function, facial aesthetics, and potentially posing many long-term complications if not promptly and correctly intervened.
Therefore, Vung Tau General Hospital activated the inter-hospital consultation process, closely coordinated with experts from Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology to develop an optimal treatment regimen and surgical plan. Through this, the surgery took place smoothly and safely.
After surgery, the patient had stable signs, the jaw and face condition improved positively and is being monitored and cared for post-operatively according to the correct protocol.
In the coming time, Vung Tau General Hospital will continue to promote training, technology transfer and strengthen professional cooperation with leading hospitals, gradually mastering specialized surgical techniques, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, and better meeting the healthcare needs of people in eastern Ho Chi Minh City.
