Can Tho City Oncology Hospital currently has 2 locations: location 1 is on Chau Van Liem Street, location 2 is on Tran Binh Trong Street, both in Ninh Kieu Ward.
After the merger, the administrative block of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital was arranged to be transferred to work at the headquarters of the Department of Education and Training of Ninh Kieu District (old), thereby partly solving the pressure of the working space of the functional department.
However, the pressure of overloading patients in conditions of serious deterioration of facilities still exists at the Hospital. "During the week, we receive about 500 - 600 patients in the city as well as neighboring provinces for examination and treatment" - Master, Doctor of Pharmacy II Huynh Minh Thien, Head of the General Planning Department of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital, informed.

In the General Surgery Department, the area is about 200m2 but currently has about 80 hospital beds. Each bed has 2 - 3 patients.
It is worth mentioning that after many repairs because they are "operating at full capacity", up to now, the radiation therapy department of the Hospital still uses an outdated Cobalt 60 radiotherapy machine, equipped since 2010.

Patient N.T.T.Tr (Can Tho City) suggested: "If the Central and the city soon consider solving the construction of a new hospital, as well as buying a radiotherapy machine for use, we will be very happy".
Local solutions
On October 19, during a working trip to Can Tho City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital Construction Investment Project with a scale of 500 beds must continue and be completed in 2026. The Prime Minister also suggested that Can Tho, the project owner, propose capital to immediately buy radiotherapy machines to treat people's diseases because this is an emergency, related to the health and lives of the people.
Speaking with Lao Dong, on the afternoon of October 21, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Quoc Cuong, Director of Can Tho Department of Health, said that the Government had agreed and approved the policy of stopping Hungarian ODA capital, while using domestic capital to restart the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital Construction Investment Project with a scale of 500 beds.
This is the basis for the unit to carry out the next steps to soon complete the Project according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
The leader of the Department of Health added that Can Tho has merged the old Cai Rang District Medical Center and the old Phong Dien District Medical Center, headquartered in Cai Rang. Therefore, the Department of Health proposed to transfer the headquarters of the Phong Dien District Medical Center (old) from the Cai Rang Regional Medical Center to the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital for management and use.
This proposal was agreed upon by the leaders of Can Tho City at the meeting on October 16. This place will achieve 2 goals, both providing general medical examination and treatment for local people and being a place for treatment of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital. Thus, in the near future, Can Tho will complete the procedures for this Hospital to deploy additional medical examination and treatment at the Phong Dien District Medical Center (old).

Regarding the situation of purchasing new radiotherapy machines, Mr. Cuong said that Can Tho City is urgently completing further procedures so that Can Tho City Oncology Hospital can soon have machines for use in 2026.
