On December 14, information from the Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health announced the end of the diphtheria outbreak in Khau Noong hamlet, Thach Lam commune.
Previously, on November 21, a death due to diphtheria was recorded, that of Giang Mi H. (born in 2013), a student at Khau Noong Hamlet School. The patient had not received enough diphtheria vaccine according to the expanded immunization schedule.
Immediately after that, the health sector carried out epidemiological investigations, sprayed disinfectants, made lists and provided preventive medicine to close contacts. At the same time, a working group from the Ministry of Health came to support monitoring and training for local health workers.
Thanks to epidemic prevention and control measures, as of December 4, no new cases have been recorded. The diphtheria outbreak in Khau Noong hamlet has been controlled and has not spread to the community.
