On June 26, information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province said that Buon Ma Thuot city currently recorded the highest number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases in the province with 195 cases, accounting for more than 35% of the total number of cases.
The localities with the next highest number of cases include: Krong Nang (51 cases), Cu M'gar (47 cases), Krong Pac (41 cases) and Krong Ana (32 cases).
The province has recorded 4 outbreaks in Krong Pac district (2 outbreaks), Ea Kar (1 outbreak) and Ea Sup (1 outbreak), with a total of 12 related cases. Although there have been no deaths, the appearance of scattered outbreaks in many districts has raised concerns about the risk of widespread outbreaks.
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of the CDC of Dak Lak province - commented: "In the coming time, the number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases may continue to increase, especially from August to October when students enter the new school year. The health sector needs to strengthen supervision, detect cases early and thoroughly handle outbreaks to limit spread".
Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common infectious disease in young children, transmitted through the digestive tract and can cause dangerous complications if not treated promptly.
The health sector recommends that parents closely monitor symptoms such as fever, mouth ulcers, rashes in the palms, feet, etc. and take their children to medical facilities when there are unusual signs.
Currently, local health centers are synchronously implementing epidemic prevention and monitoring activities in the community.
At the same time, propaganda work has also been strengthened, especially for parents and preschool and primary school teachers to raise awareness and prevent the spread of the epidemic.
