On August 24, Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital said that the Department of Cardiology of the hospital has officially been recognized by the European Heart Association (HFA), under the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), as the Center for Quality Care of Heart Failure (HFA Quality of Care Centre) and achieved ICARe-HF certification at the level of Specialized Center.
This is an international certificate evaluating the quality of care and treatment for heart failure patients based on strict European professional standards. Being recognized at the level of a specialized center demonstrates the capacity of the Cardiology Department in building standardized treatment procedures, applying the latest clinical practice guidelines of the European Heart Association in diagnosing, treating and monitoring patients.
According to Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital, the heart failure management model at the unit is implemented in the direction of continuous and comprehensive care, with the patient at the center. Heart failure patients with a hemodialysis rate (EF) below 50% are advised to participate in the heart failure management program, are instructed on medication use, monitor weight, pulse, blood pressure, diet, lifestyle and early identification of signs of severe disease progression.
After discharge, the patient continues to be actively monitored. After 3 days, the nurse contacts to assess the health status and remind of a re-examination schedule. After 7 days, the patient is evaluated at the Cardiovascular Disease Management Clinic. Based on the progression of the disease, treatment response capacity and indicators such as kidney function, electrolytes, electrocardiogram, the doctor will adjust the regimen appropriately.
After 2 years of implementation, the Heart failure Management program at Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital has managed nearly 1,000 patients. Through this, patients have improved their knowledge, increased their ability to comply with treatment, reduced the number of hospitalizations due to heart failure and improved the quality of life.
Cardioinsufficiency is a complex chronic disease that needs long-term treatment and continuous monitoring. Regular patient management, especially in the post-discharge period, plays an important role in maintaining treatment effectiveness, limiting severe episodes and reducing the risk of death.
Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital is one of the few domestic medical facilities to achieve the HFA Quality of Care Centre - ICARe-HF Specialized Centre certification. This is the recognition of the European Heart failure Association for the quality of care, professional capacity and management system for heart failure patients of the hospital according to international standards.
