On April 20, the Department of Health of Lam Dong province said that it is coordinating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities to strengthen communication about rabies prevention and control in the province.

Accordingly, the content of propaganda focuses on enhancing the responsibility of the government and people in managing dogs and cats; proactively preventing and controlling rabies.
Communication work is deployed diversely through newspapers, loudspeaker systems, social networks; and at the same time, direct propaganda in the community, schools, integrated into cultural, sports, and tourism activities.
Health, culture, and veterinary sectors strengthen coordination, provide timely and unified information; guide people to manage pets according to the "5 no" principle: do not raise dogs and cats that have not been vaccinated against rabies; do not raise dogs and cats without declaration; do not let them roam freely; do not let them bite people; do not cause environmental pollution.
When taking dogs to public places, they must be chained, muzzled and led.
According to the epidemiological surveillance report, from the beginning of 2026 to date, the whole province recorded 31,570 cases of people bitten by dogs and cats who had to be vaccinated against rabies; many cases had to be treated for post-exposure prophylaxis.
The Department of Health also recorded 1 death due to rabies, mainly due to not being vaccinated in time after being bitten by an animal.
The Lam Dong health sector recommends that when bitten, scratched, or lick by an animal, it is necessary to immediately wash the wound under the tap with soap for 10–15 minutes; disinfect with 70% alcohol or iodine solution; do not crush the wound, do not bandage it tightly, do not squeeze blood; quickly go to a medical facility for advice and timely vaccination.
