From the beginning of 2026 to now, the whole country has recorded 9 deaths from rabies in 9 provinces and cities.

In Gia Lai, the risk of an outbreak is at a high level when there has been 1 death due to being bitten by a dog but not vaccinated. In addition, the locality also recorded 2 cases of suspected rabies dogs biting 6 people; victims have been consulted and vaccinated in time.

The prolonged hot and dry weather in Phu Thien area and neighboring areas such as Krong Pa, Phu Tuc, Ayun Pa, Ia Rsai, Ia Pa... is creating favorable conditions for rabies viruses to develop and spread on dogs and cats. This poses a direct threat to people's health and lives if there are no effective preventive measures.

Faced with the above situation, people are advised to strictly manage pets, register, keep and not let dogs and cats roam freely.

When taking pets outside, muzzles should be put on and someone should lead them. At the same time, rabies vaccination for dogs and cats must be carried out fully and periodically, especially during times of high risk.

In particular, when bitten or scratched by dogs or cats, people must go to medical facilities immediately for advice and timely vaccination, and absolutely do not be subjective.
