Another hospital in Hanoi deploys electronic medical records

Hanoi - Hanoi Children's Hospital has just held a meeting of the Professional Council to assess and decide on the use and storage of electronic medical records to replace paper records.

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health said: " applying information technology is an inevitable trend to move towards digital transformation in the health sector, especially at Hanoi Children's Hospital. As a new hospital in operation, deploying electronic medical records from the beginning will help the application process become more efficient and synchronous. We expect the Hospital to soon complete and successfully deploy electronic medical records in the coming time".

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quy Tuong - Chairman of the Professional Council acknowledged the efforts of the Hospital in the process of implementing electronic medical records.

Although it has only been in operation for nearly 6 months, Hanoi Children's Hospital is expected to be the 144th hospital in the country to deploy electronic medical records. He highly appreciated the spirit of determination for digital transformation and affirmed that the application of electronic medical records is an important step forward to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment and hospital management.

After listening to reports on the application of information technology and implementation of electronic medical records at Hanoi Children's Hospital, the Council conducted a professional appraisal with the following contents: Appraisal of implementation documents; thuc te inspection of systems: Examination and treatment process, Hospital information system (HIS), Image storage and transmission system (PACS), Testing system (LIS), Information technology infrastructure.

The professional council has given opinions on the assessment and conclusion of meeting the standards for implementation: Using and storing electronic medical records instead of paper medical records, storing and transmitting medical images instead of printing films and storing testing information instead of printing paper in accordance with current regulations at Hanoi Children's Hospital.

Dr. Ngo Quang Hung, Director of Hanoi Children's Hospital, pledged to receive comments and will promptly complete the hospital's IT system and records according to regulations, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment as well as patient records management.

"The implementation of electronic medical records is an important step forward in the digital transformation process, improving management efficiency and patient service quality at Hanoi Children's Hospital" - Dr. Ngo Quang Hung said.

Hanoi has 42 public hospitals. Currently, hospitals implementing electronic medical records include: Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Xanh Pon General Hospital, My Duc District General Hospital, Van Dinh General Hospital, Hoa Nhai General Hospital, Ba Vi District General Hospital, Soc Son General Hospital, Quoc Oai District General Hospital, Dong Anh General Hospital, Hanoi Oncology Hospital.
