Reunions after "storms
In the bustling atmosphere of the days leading up to Tet, the small room at the Rehabilitation Department, Cho Ray Hospital becomes unusually warm. This is the 15th consecutive year that a special year-end party has been organized to connect patients who have been and are being treated here.
BS.CKII Luu Thi Thanh Loan - Manager of the Rehabilitation Department - said that this year's party welcomed about 32 patients. "This is not simply a year-end party, but an opportunity for old patients who have recovered to inspire and "fuel" those who are diligently on the training journey" - Dr. Loan shared.
Among those radiant faces is Ms. Khuu Nguyen Nhu Thi (32 years old, Ho Chi Minh City). Looking at her confident demeanor and current stable job, few people know that she has spent many years attached to this recovery room. Returning to the "old roof" - Ms. Thi choked up when meeting the technicians - the people who have accompanied Ms. Thi for many years of treatment, contributing to bringing her back to normal life.
According to Ms. Thi, in the early days of training, she encountered many difficulties, but thanks to the encouragement and dedicated support of doctors, technicians and the sharing from other patients, she gradually regained her spirit, became more confident and persistent in training. Every day, she comes to the department to exercise in the morning and then returns home at noon. Each time she finishes training, her mood is much more comfortable and happy. Up to now, she has completed the treatment process, returned to a life that is almost normal and has a stable job.
The initial time was really a test of willpower. But thanks to everyone's dedication, I did not give up. Today when I returned, seeing that everyone was still optimistic and fighting, I just hope you will keep your faith, because recovery is possible" - Ms. Thi confided.

Special spring greetings
Not only young people, the recovery journey of elderly patients here also moved many people. Once a severe stroke patient, all daily activities had to be put on his wife's shoulders because she could not walk or speak, Mr. Le Nang Dac (HCMC) can now walk. In the warm atmosphere of the party, he slowly said: "Happy New Year everyone, wish everyone good health". Although not really complete and clear, it is the result of thousands of days of hard work.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh An - Mr. Dac's wife - shared: "When he first entered the department, my husband had to move in a wheelchair, each time he practiced walking, he needed two people to support him. After nearly 2 years of persistent physical therapy, his condition began to improve significantly. Up to now, after about 4 years of treatment and practice, my husband can walk when only one person supports him, and his speech has also improved so that people around him can understand.
Attending the year-end party, Mr. Dac's family and himself were very happy to look back on the journey of recovery full of effort with everyone.
With the team of doctors and nurses, each year-end party is not only a year-end gathering, but also an opportunity to look back at the results achieved. "When we see old patients return in a happy and healthy state, the patients being treated also have more motivation. And we feel happy because our efforts have brought real value to the lives of patients" - Dr. Loan shared.
