On February 25, Mr. Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Secretary of the Party Committees of the Provincial Party Agencies chaired a meeting of 100 outstanding grassroots health workers on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day (February 27, 55 - February 27, 2025). These are officials working at military-civilian clinics, commune-level health stations and health workers in hamlets and villages in the province.

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the heroic tradition of the Dong Thap health sector in the journey of fighting to protect the Fatherland and build and develop the country. On July 27, 1967, the Southern Military-Civilian Medical Department was established in Doc Binh Kieu commune (Thap Muoi district). In 1951 it was transferred to the Long Chau Sa Provincial Military-Civilian Medical Department. On March 22, 1964, the Provincial Military-Civilian Medical Department was separated into the Military-Civilian Medical Department and the Civil Medicine Department. At that time, the Civil Medicine Department, the predecessor of the Department of Health of Dong Thap province, today had only 5 people. By the end of 1964 there were 3 more female homeowners; Houses and medicine did not have to ask for materials from the people to build infirmaries, fields... In 1975, the health sector took over and used enemy medical facilities including: 2 hospitals, 7 district health centers, 68 commune health centers with 467 people, and 200 revolutionary health workers from the newly liberated areas to focus on building and renovating the health network of the whole province.

To date, the entire provincial health system has more than 9,300 cadres and employees, including public and private health with 10 provincial hospitals, 4 specialized centers, 12 health centers in districts and cities; 141 health stations in communes, wards and towns. Not only developing in terms of the number of infrastructure and equipment, the health sector of Dong Thap province is also constantly growing in terms of the quality of diagnosis and treatment. Notably, the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment contributes to the good work of taking care of people's health.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong respectfully acknowledged the efforts and contributions of grassroots health workers in the recent past. At the same time, he emphasized that grassroots health care plays an important role, being the first shield in protecting and caring for people's health. Dong Thap sets a goal of rapid and sustainable development, focusing on improving the quality of people's lives, towards making all people live happily and healthily, therefore, grassroots health plays a very important role.

At the same time, he requested that Dong Thap health workers continue to promote the heroic tradition of the industry in the past to continue to reap many achievements in the new era, and perform well the task of taking care of people's health. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day, the Provincial Party Secretary wished grassroots health workers good health, joy and good results in their work.
