This is the first measles outbreak in 2024 in Hai Duong. In this outbreak, the first case was recorded on December 4, after which 4 more patients were infected. Through investigation of vaccination history, there were 4 cases that had not been vaccinated and 1 case that had received 2 doses of vaccine containing measles prevention ingredients.
As of December 15, Hai Duong recorded 18 cases of measles in 8 districts, towns and cities (except Tu Ky, Nam Sach, Thanh Mien districts and Chi Linh city), an increase of 11 cases compared to the same period in 2023. Measles cases are mainly children, with no deaths.
Hai Duong has carried out two rounds of measles vaccination for children and high-risk medical staff with a vaccination rate of 92.5%. Although the basic vaccination rate ensures immunity, we cannot be subjective and still need to take preventive measures to limit measles outbreaks in the community.
Along with measles, some infectious diseases that cause epidemics also exist such as: dengue fever last week recorded 12 cases, mainly concentrated in Hai Duong city with 6 cases, the rest appeared sporadically in some other localities.
