On May 2, Binh Duong Provincial Police informed that the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police had arrested Nguyen Van Duc (born in 1995, permanent residence in Thanh Hoa province; currently residing in Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An city, Binh Duong province) to investigate and clarify the acts of robbery and rape.
According to the investigation, Nguyen Van Duc has a previous conviction for robbery. In January 2025, Duc was released from prison and worked as a truck driver in Binh Duong province.
To have money to spend, from January 2025, Duc drove a motorbike from a motel in Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An city to Phu Giao district and Bac Tan Uyen district, Binh Duong province to rob property.
The subjects often pay attention to money, jewelry, phones, valuable assets... of women traveling alone at night on deserted roads in rubber lots.
In particular, on April 15 and 20, after robbing property, Duc also used a knife to control the victims to commit rapes.
Because the subject committed the crime at night, on deserted roads, it caused many difficulties in the process of investigating the subject.
However, with the determination to prevent crimes, the criminal police force coordinated with local police to synchronously deploy professional measures to investigate and arrest the subject Duc.
Binh Duong Provincial Police said that through investigation, Duc confessed to having committed 7 cases alone (including 3 robberies and rapes, 4 robberies).
The case is continuing to be investigated.
