According to the investigation results, Tran Quang Luong hacked the cameras of households, collected sensitive images and clips of the victims. Then, the subject used fake Zalo, junk SIM cards to threaten to spread them on social networks, send them to relatives if they did not transfer money. Many victims, out of fear, had to pay money to Luong.
Previously, on January 5, 2025, the Investigation Police Agency of Lien Chieu District Police received a report from a woman (living in Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) about an unknown subject using fake Zalo accounts named "Thuy Linh" and "Dat" to text and send "hot" images and video clips of this person and threaten and ask the victim to transfer money. Otherwise, the subject will post the victim's sensitive images on social networks and send them to relatives and friends.
The Da Nang Cyber Security Department, in coordination with the Lien Chieu District Police, investigated and identified Luong as the main suspect. This subject was very sophisticated, frequently changing his residence, using junk SIM cards and fake social network accounts to conceal his actions. Finally, the police arrested Luong while he was hiding in An Giang and extradited him to Da Nang.
At the investigation agency, Luong confessed to the crime. The authorities also discovered that Luong had used many different bank accounts with a total transaction amount of up to tens of billions of VND. Currently, Luong has been detained for further investigation. Da Nang police call on anyone who is a victim or has information related to similar acts to contact Lien Chieu District Police to report.
