On June 29, at the 3rd session (Specialized Session) of the 11th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031, it approved the submission of the draft Resolution Regulating the minimum housing area eligible for permanent residence registration at the legal place of residence due to lease, borrowing, and lodging in An Giang province.
The purpose of issuing the document is to unify the issuance of a new Resolution after merging the two provinces of An Giang and Kien Giang into one Resolution suitable to the actual situation. Specifying the regulations on the average area when citizens register for permanent residence at the legal place of residence due to renting, borrowing, and staying in the province of An Giang according to the provisions of point b, clause 3, Article 20 of the Law on Residence.
This Resolution stipulates the minimum housing area conditions for permanent residence registration at the legal residence due to renting, borrowing, and lodging in An Giang province applicable to citizens registering permanent residence at the legal residence due to renting, borrowing, and lodging in An Giang province; Residence registration and management agencies; relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals in An Giang province.
The minimum housing area registered for permanent residence at the legal place of residence due to lease, borrow, and lodging in An Giang province is 8 m2 of floor space/person.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, after arrangement, An Giang province has a natural area of 9,888.91 km2, a population size of 4,952,238 people. An Giang has 102 communes, wards, and special zones, including 85 communes, 14 wards and 3 special zones.
To be consistent with current regulations and unify the application of regulations on minimum housing area conditions for registering permanent residence at legal residence due to lease, borrow, and lodging in An Giang province; the Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution stipulating minimum housing area conditions for registering permanent residence at legal residence due to lease, borrow, and lodging in An Giang province (replacing Resolution No. 19/2022/NQ-HDND dated July 12, 2022 and Resolution No. 15/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 13, 2023 of the An Giang Provincial People's Council (before arrangement)).
