The North-South high-speed railway project is expected to pass through 18 communes and wards after the merger of Binh Thuan province. The Department of Construction of Binh Thuan province said that the locality has received the project boundary documents according to the pre-feasibility study report from March 2025.
On that basis, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province has directed districts with high-speed railway lines to review the resettlement needs of the project, plan and scale the construction of resettlement areas to serve the project's site clearance work.
At the same time, localities must also notify people in the project area not to illegally construct works to avoid taking advantage of policies and disrupting security and order. Violations will be strictly handled and will not be compensated.
Through the review, the total resettlement demand for the project is about 1,150 households and 3 organizations. The resettlement plan is that 45 households will be arranged in the existing residential area. The remaining area is expected to be arranged in 9 newly proposed resettlement areas with an area of over 350,000 m2 with a scale of about 1,430 lots. The Provincial People's Committee has established a Steering Committee and a Working Group to speed up site clearance work.
The provincial leaders are arranging highly capable cadres to take on the positions of Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee in the new communes and wards to do a good job of project implementation. The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to study and advise on plans to organize site clearance when the commune and district authorities come into stable operation.
The investment project to build a high-speed railway on the North - South axis, the section passing through Binh Thuan province, with a planning of 2 passenger terminals including Phan Ri station located in Phan Hoa commune, Bac Binh district and Phan Thiet station located in Ham Hiep commune, Ham Thuan Bac district.
