On November 25, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Minh chaired a meeting to prepare for the ceremony to announce the establishment of Moc Chau town and arrange and establish commune-level administrative units in Moc Chau town.
At the meeting, Moc Chau district leaders reported on the preparation of contents related to the organization of the announcement ceremony, including: Overall program; script, art program; budget; propaganda work, urban beautification,...
Accordingly, the announcement ceremony is expected to take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 18, 2025 at 8.5 Square, Moc Chau town. After the announcement ceremony, there will be a fireworks display to celebrate.
On the sidelines of the announcement ceremony, the 2025 Vietnam Trail Marathon will take place in Moc Chau district; booths will display and introduce OCOP agricultural products of Son La province; booths will introduce culture and tourism.
Previously, on November 14, 2024, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in Son La province for the 2023-2025 period.
Accordingly, Moc Chau town was established on the basis of the entire natural area of 1,072.09 km2 and population of 148,259 people of Moc Chau district. Regarding the administrative units, Moc Chau town has 15 commune-level administrative units, including 8 wards and 7 communes.
