The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Son La province for the 2023-2025 period.
Accordingly, Moc Chau town was established on the basis of the entire natural area of 1,072.09 km2 and population of 148,259 people of Moc Chau district.
Establish and arrange commune-level administrative units in Moc Chau town as follows:
Establish Moc Ly ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 7.03 km2 and population of 8,546 people of Moc Chau town.
Establish Moc Son ward on the basis of the entire natural area of 7.22 km2 and population of 10,337 people of Moc Chau town after adjustment.
Establish Binh Minh ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 16.85 km2 and population of 8,667 people of Moc Chau Farm town.
Establish Thao Nguyen ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 17.02 km2 and population of 14,803 people of Moc Chau Farm town.
Establish Co Do ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 36.07 km2 and population of 10,030 people of Moc Chau Farm town.
Establish Van Son ward on the basis of merging a part of the natural area of 6.19 km2, the entire population of 5,556 people of Moc Chau Farm town after adjustment and a part of the natural area of 16.57 km2, the entire population of 4,798 people of Phieng Luong commune.
Establish Dong Sang ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 30.66 km2 and the entire population of 9,288 people of Dong Sang commune.
Establish Muong Sang ward on the basis of a part of the natural area of 20.66 km2 and population of 11,495 people of Muong Sang commune.
Establish Chieng Chung commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 61.67 km2, population of 5,209 people of Hua Pang commune, the entire natural area of 13.58 km2 of Phieng Luong commune after adjustment and part of the natural area of 22.40 km2 of Moc Chau Farm town.
Establish Tan Yen commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 93.79 km2, population of 11,947 people of Tan Lap commune and the entire natural area of 99.00 km2, population of 6,463 people of Tan Hop commune.
Establish Doan Ket commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 73.22 km2, population of 4,275 people of Quy Huong commune, the entire natural area of 42.30 km2, population of 4,748 people of Na Muong commune and the entire natural area of 27.49 km2, population of 3,879 people of Ta Lai commune.
Merge the entire natural area of 9.87 km2 of Moc Chau Farm town after adjustment according to regulations and adjust part of the natural area of 27.25 km2 of Muong Sang commune into Chieng Hac commune.
Adjust a part of the natural area of 17.91 km2 of Muong Sang commune to merge into Chieng Khua commune.
Merge the entire natural area of 12.06 km2 of Dong Sang commune after adjustment according to the provisions at Point g of this Clause and the entire natural area of 25.19 km2, population size of 501 people of Muong Sang commune after adjustment into Chieng Son commune.
After its establishment, Moc Chau town had 15 commune-level administrative units.
Establish Moc Chau Town People's Court on the basis of inheriting Moc Chau District People's Court.
Establish Moc Chau Town People's Procuracy on the basis of inheriting Moc Chau District People's Procuracy.
This Resolution comes into force from February 1, 2025.
From the effective date of this resolution, Son La province has 12 district-level administrative units and 200 commune-level administrative units.
