On June 19, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh chaired a meeting with departments, branches and localities on the situation of industrial cluster deployment in the province.
According to a report by the Department of Industry and Trade, by 2030, Lao Cai will plan to develop 56 industrial clusters with a total area of more than 3,050 hectares. Of which, 23 clusters have been approved for detailed planning, 37 clusters are being promoted for investment and 4 clusters have been removed from the plan.
Currently, industrial clusters are divided into two groups. The first group includes 16 clusters managed by local authorities, with infrastructure invested from the budget but not synchronized.

Many clusters have achieved high occupancy rates such as Dam Hong, Bac Duyen Hai, Dong Pho Moi, and Son Man reaching 100%; Bac Van Yen reached more than 88%; Thinh Hung nearly 88%; Au Lau is nearly 87%.
The second group includes 7 industrial clusters invested in infrastructure by enterprises, which are still in the site clearance and infrastructure construction phase, and have not been put into production land lease.
In addition, 5 industrial clusters are completing dossiers to propose establishment after investors propose; 5 other clusters have been interested in research by businesses with a total estimated investment capital of more than 4,000 billion VND. The Department of Industry and Trade is also continuing to promote investment for the remaining 27 industrial clusters.
At the meeting, localities reported on difficulties and obstacles in planning, site clearance and investment attraction, and proposed solutions to remove them.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh requested communes and wards to urgently review all difficulties and obstacles to report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely handling; and at the same time prioritize land funds and planning to serve industrial development and strengthen investment attraction.

For ongoing projects, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to take the lead in coordinating with localities to urgently complete the asset handling plan on land at Phu Thinh 1, Phu Thinh 2 and Phu Thinh 3 industrial clusters to remove obstacles in site clearance.
The Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to publicize the list of projects on the province's electronic information portal, and at the same time requested localities with industrial clusters to focus highly on site clearance, establish steering committees headed by local leaders to directly direct and promptly handle bottlenecks.
Departments and sectors must arrange specialized focal points to shorten the time to resolve administrative procedures, ensuring that industrial cluster projects are implemented on schedule.
