Many abandoned golden plots of land
The frontage land at 59 Hung Vuong, Buon Ma Thuot city was previously leased by the Provincial People's Committee to Dak Lak Forestry Products Joint Stock Company for production and business. The land is over 4,000m2 wide, located near the center, with a frontage of over 50m long. However, since 2006, the land has been almost abandoned, many kiosks have no tenants on the frontage, and the doors are closed.
Similarly, the Dak Lak General Cultural, Trade and Service Center project on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street has also been abandoned for nearly 20 years. Despite the three-term extension, the investor still did not comply, leading to the Provincial People's Committee terminating operations due to not ensuring the registration progress.
On the Phan Chu Trinh - Hai Ba Trung - Quang Trung road, the Kim Dong cinema has been abandoned for half a decade. Around this area, spontaneous shops have sprung up, causing loss of urban beauty. Notably, these abandoned lands are located near the market and the Buon Ma Thuot Victory Monument, affecting the city's tourism image in the eyes of tourists.
Many plots of land with high value will be auctioned
According to statistics from the 14th Tax Department, the whole Dak Lak province has more than 1,000 individuals and organizations leasing public land. Of which, there are more than 600 organizations and 400 individuals.
According to the Department of Finance of Dak Lak province, the whole province has more than 4,600 houses and land with plans to rearrange and handle. The center of Buon Ma Thuot city is a locality with many prime and valuable land locations. In 2025, some locations and real estate facilities are expected to be transferred, assets on the land will be sold and land use rights will be transferred. This move can partly solve the problem of ineffective use of public land, causing waste.
Recently, authorities at all levels in Dak Lak province have stepped up reviewing and handling cases related to the lease and handling of assets on public land. Not only enforcing and reclaiming, the province is also planning to speed up the auction progress of "golden land" areas to effectively exploit this resource. In 2025, not only Buon Ma Thuot city, but the whole province will auction some prime land plots.
Thereby, selecting investors with real capacity, avoiding the current situation of abandonment. The authorities will also strengthen inspections to promptly detect land plots that are being wasted and slow to be implemented. For units that are not qualified, the province will take measures to recover or request the transfer of the project to a new investor.
Mr. Vu Van Hung, Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee admitted: "In the city, there is a situation where many public land plots and headquarters are abandoned or used for the wrong purpose. The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have asked us to review and coordinate with relevant units to thoroughly handle this situation. However, current regulations overlap, assets on land of enterprises mortgaged to banks... need time to be resolved. In the next 2 months, the city will auction 3 prime land plots to select reputable investment units. Thereby, increasing budget revenue for the locality".
"Regarding the situation of abandoned public land and headquarters, the city will coordinate with the Department of Finance and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to remove obstacles to avoid wasting resources," Mr. Hung added.
