On May 12, Dong Nai City People's Committee just decided to approve the task of zoning planning at a scale of 1/2,000 for a new urban area at the western gateway of Long Thanh International Airport (abbreviated as Long Thanh airport).
The planned area is about 6.318 hectares, including a part of Long Thanh ward, Phuoc Thai commune, Long Phuoc commune in Ho Chi Minh City, located to the North adjacent to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, to the South adjacent to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, to the East adjacent to Long Thanh airport, Long Thanh ward and Long Phuoc commune.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai City, the planning area is part of a new urban area belonging to Long Thanh city with the main functions: urban area, free trade area, financial and commercial center and support services. Airport closely linked to Long Thanh airport.
Orienting itself to become a gateway urban space with an important role in international exchange and integration, and also a leading area, creating a new development image for Long Thanh city and the Southeast region.
In which, focus on concretizing functions for non-aviation economic activities such as commercial services, retail, food, accommodation, offices, conferences - exhibitions and experiential services to increase attractiveness, create development resources and improve land use efficiency.
Organize urban space according to the integrated urban development model (TOD), prioritizing public transport, increasing access to walking, bicycles...; at the same time, integrate smart city and green city solutions, apply digital technology in urban management - operation, promote green growth, low emissions, strengthen green space - water surface, apply green infrastructure to improve the quality of living environment and adaptability to climate change.
The population forecast by 2045 is about 400,000 - 450,000 people.
