On April 12, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province said that the province is focusing on reviewing areas of land that have not been put into use, are used for the wrong purpose or are abandoned, causing waste of resources.
For forest land alone, the authorities have mobilized people to declare more than 37,187 hectares. Of which, about 11,000 hectares were illegally encroached.
The province aims to complete the declaration and statistics of the entire encroached forest area by the end of 2025 to carry out forest recovery and replanting to serve socio-economic development.
Commune authorities coordinate with competent authorities to propagate and mobilize people to declare land, while raising awareness of the role of forest protection and development.
After the revocation, the province will consider assigning a contract or granting a land use right certificate so that people can cultivate and stabilize their lives with peace of mind.
In previous years, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province allocated more than 1,800 hectares of land to Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company to grow rubber.
However, up to now, only about 300 hectares have been planted, the rest is abandoned. The Provincial People's Committee has directed Chu Puh district to coordinate with enterprises to review the entire assigned area and strictly handle any violations of land use.
In Ia Pa district, people also petitioned the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee to reclaim more than 93 hectares of land in Po To commune - an area leased by Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group but abandoned in the Rubber Farm area.
The recovery of ineffective land areas aims to reallocate to poor households lacking land for production. Thereby, contributing to ensuring social security and maintaining security and order in the area.
