The high-speed railway project on the North-South axis section passing through Lam Dong province has a length of about 156.5km with 2 stations. The total planned site clearance area is about 1,046ha. According to statistics, there are about 952 households that must be resettled to serve the project.
To help people soon stabilize their lives, Lam Dong province has approved the investment in the construction of 8 resettlement areas, assigning the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 2 of Lam Dong province to be the investor.

On May 17, Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 2 said that so far, 7/8 resettlement areas have been implemented.
Resettlement areas in 4 communes and wards have completed compensation, support and resettlement work. Some areas are deploying ground leveling, constructing internal traffic systems and technical infrastructure.
However, in Tuy Phong, Bac Binh and Luong Son communes, site clearance work is still facing difficulties because some households do not agree with the compensation price.
In addition to site clearance issues, the investor said that the biggest difficulty currently is the lack of topsoil for leveling and constructing resettlement areas. The total demand for topsoil for 8 resettlement areas is nearly 300,000m3.

According to the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 2, currently the Binh Thuan area (old) has a number of topsoil mines. However, these mines are not capable of supplying materials due to many reasons such as running out of exploitation reserves, expired licenses or not meeting the conditions for issuing sales invoices.
The scarcity of materials has disrupted many leveling items, directly affecting the overall progress of resettlement areas.
To remove difficulties, the investor has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to inspect and review soil mines in the Binh Thuan area (old) that still have sufficient reserves and legal conditions to supply filling materials for resettlement areas.
At the same time, the investor also proposed to introduce more mineral mines that have been licensed for exploitation in order to proactively source materials.

According to the assessment of Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai, the progress of implementing resettlement areas serving the high-speed railway project is still slow compared to the set requirements.
To ensure the project progress, provincial leaders requested departments, branches and localities to focus on removing difficulties, especially in compensation and site clearance.
In addition, the investor is required to direct contractors to mobilize more manpower, machinery, and equipment to accelerate the construction progress of resettlement areas, and soon complete infrastructure to serve people subject to relocation for this national key project.
8 resettlement areas serving the North-South high-speed railway project, passing through Lam Dong province, are arranged in Tuy Phong commune; Bac Binh commune; Luong Son commune; Hong Son commune; Ham Liem commune; Ham Kiem commune; Tan Lap commune and Binh Thuan ward.
The resettlement areas have a total area of about 27.7ha. Total investment is about 400 billion VND.
