On May 26, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper over the phone, Mr. Tran Thanh Ba - Director of the Tien Giang Province Land Fund Development Center - said that the resettlement area for the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project in Tien Giang is expected to start construction on June 3, 2025.
According to Mr. Ba, the site clearance work to implement the resettlement area of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction investment project in Tien Giang province has been 100% completed.
"The total amount of more than VND 139 billion to pay compensation for people influenced by the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project and the project of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Resettlement Area in Tien Giang up to now, My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) has not handed over to the locality.
Previously, on March 26, 2024, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province issued Decision No. 522 approving the resettlement area for the Rach Mieu 2 bridge construction investment project (abbreviated as the Rach Mieu 2 bridge resettlement area project in Tien Giang). This project is invested by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tien Giang province, with an implementation period from 2024 - 2025, with a total investment of more than 377 billion VND.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has a starting point at the intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870 in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province, and an end point connecting to National Highway 60 at the Ham Luong Bridge approach road in Ben Tre Province. This project has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h, with a total investment of more than 6,810 billion VND. On April 19, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committees of Tien Giang province and Ben Tre province to organize a closing ceremony for the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project, which is expected to be completed in early September 2025.
