Di Linh District belongs to Lam Dong Province, located on Di Linh Plateau, at an altitude of 1,000m above sea level. The whole district includes 19 administrative units at commune and town level with a total natural area of 1,614.18km²; population of about 161,781 people.
Di Linh town (Di Linh district) was established in 1981, used to be the center of Dong Nai Thuong province before 1945. After more than decades of construction and development, Di Linh town was identified as the political, economic and cultural center of Di Linh district.
Di Linh town has a natural area of 2,465 hectares with a population of over 26,500 people. Of which, ethnic minorities account for 17.3%. Di Linh town is a highland urban area and has made basic development steps to meet the standards of a type IV urban area.
The project to recognize Di Linh urban area as a type IV urban area has been prepared by the People's Committee of Di Linh district and the consulting unit. Comments have been collected and revised according to the comments of relevant agencies and units.
In addition, the Project has also been approved by the People's Council of Di Linh district and the People's Council of Lam Dong province. The dossier ensures the legal basis and procedures for submission to the Ministry of Construction for appraisal and recognition of a type IV urban area for Di Linh town according to regulations.
Specifically, the urban standards and indicators that Di Linh has achieved are: Location, function, role, structure and level of socio-economic development reached 17.57 points (minimum is 13.5 points, maximum is 18 points).
The level of infrastructure development, architecture and urban landscape reached 49.75 points (minimum 45 points, maximum 60 points). Population size reached 6.46 points (minimum 6.0 points, maximum 8.0 points). Population density reached 7.30 points (minimum 6.0 points, maximum 8.0 points)...
Synthesizing urban classification criteria, Di Linh town meets the standards of a type IV urban area with a total score of 85.58/100 points.
According to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the project to classify urban areas and recognize Di Linh town as a type IV urban area is in accordance with regulations on urban classification, planning, and urban development programs at all levels.
This project has important significance in contributing to the completion of political goals, state management, urban development, socio-economic development of the locality in particular and Lam Dong province in general in accordance with the orientation determined by the Party committees and authorities at all levels.
