Previously, Nguyen Viet Hong Street (An Phu Ward, Ninh Kieu District) was a familiar destination for Can Tho fashion enthusiasts and tourists coming to have fun in the city. The stores are close together in all styles, from popular to high-end, attracting a large number of customers, especially young people. The diversity of designs, styles and convenient locations have turned this road into a bustling shopping "holy land" in Can Tho.

However, in recent months, this route has had a clear change when the atmosphere was quiet due to lack of passengers. Notably, after the April 30 and 1.5 holidays this year, a series of stores on this route have hung signs "for rent", "rent out space", ... stores mainly selling fashion and cosmetics.

It is known that fierce competition from large shopping malls and the strong development of online shopping are the main factors that cause a significant decrease in the number of traditional customers. Along with that is the fact that some lenders have increased prices, making it impossible for businesses to " bear losses" in operations.
"business is difficult, the renter increases the price, I heard there was no place like 50 million VND/month, so the store owner could not resist" - a resident on Nguyen Viet Hong Street shared.
Our research is based on the phone number posted on the store as well as some social networking sites for renting premises, the rental price here ranges from 10 - 50 million VND/month.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Cuong (Ninh Kieu District) shared: "Now, online shopping is very convenient, many beautiful designs are affordable, delivered at home, and if not as good, they are exchanged, so they are very popular. I think that businesses need to be more innovative and creative in their way of operation".

At 600m long, Nguyen Viet Hong Street is highly appreciated for its prime location when connecting Phan Van Tri Street and Mau Than Street, forming an important traffic axis of Can Tho City.
