Early in the afternoon of May 5, in Can Tho city, there was heavy rain lasting about 2 hours, causing many roads to be seriously flooded.
This situation not only makes it difficult for people to travel but also greatly affects daily business and daily activities.

According to the reporter's records, on Cach Mang Thang 8 route (National Highway 91 in Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district), heavy rain caused water to not yet drain and rise onto the road surface. A team of water supply and drainage workers is on duty to respond.
Observation shows that the water level was about 30cm deep. Even in some low-lying areas, the water level rises, making it difficult for many vehicles, especially motorbikes, to move.
"Every time it rains heavily, the road is flooded. Every year, we are so used to this scene. Going to work and sending my children to school becomes extremely difficult," said Ms. Minh Trang (a resident of Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district).

Next to Cach Mang Thang 8 Street, Nguyen Van Cu Street is also heavily flooded. Motorbikes must move close to the median strip to avoid stalking.

Not only traffic, but the daily life of traders is also seriously affected. Many houses were flooded, causing property damage. Business and trading activities have also been stalled due to flooded roads, making it impossible for customers to access.

On Tran Van Hoai Street, the road surface has just been upgraded, so the water overflows onto the sidewalk and cannot drain in time. In addition, 30/4 Street also appeared in many flooded locations.

According to the Can Tho City Hydrometeorological Station, the measured rainfall was 60.3mm, with rainfall from 12:50 - 15:20 minutes.
It is known that the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7) with a total investment of nearly VND 7,238 billion is being urgently implemented by Can Tho City. This is a key project, of great significance in the city's socio-economic development.
The project has a total planned land area of about 27.25 hectares; affecting about 1,066 households, individuals and organizations; with a need for resettlement of about 300 plots.
The National Highway 91 Upgrade and Expansion Project (section from Km0 - Km7), Can Tho City is a Group A project, a level 1 road traffic project, with implementation period from 2023 - 2027. The overall goal of the project is to complete the transport infrastructure, striving to build Can Tho into a modern and civilized city, basically becoming an industrial city.
