According to Lao Dong reporters, at the end of June 2025, many people in Da Nang City had to queue up all night in front of the headquarters of Duc Manh Joint Stock Company (Hung Vuong Street) to win a place to register to buy an apartment in the An Trung 2 social housing project.
Even scenes of pushing and jostling have occurred. Many people, despite sweating and fatigue, still patiently wait in the hope of being able to buy a social housing apartment at a reasonable price.
Notably, in this project, the joint venture of Duc Manh Company and Construction and Investment Company 579 (DMC-579) is the investor, expected to provide 633 apartments, including 288 A-bots and 345 B-bots, with an area of 50-66 m2, with an average price of about 16 million VND/m2.
This price is considered suitable for the majority of workers and low-income people who want to buy an apartment to settle down in Da Nang City.
To relieve the above pressure, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil, Industrial and Infrastructure Works of Da Nang City recently announced to invite investors interested in submitting applications to implement social housing projects at land plot No. 10 (Trinh Cong Son Street, Hoa Cuong Ward).
The project aims to supplement the social housing fund, meeting the housing needs of beneficiaries of housing policies according to the law.
The land area for the project is more than 5,660m2, expected to have 1 basement and 20 upper floors with 649 apartments. The area of a 1-bedroom apartment is expected to be 35-45m2, the area of a 2-3-bedroom apartment is expected to be 50-70m2.
The project requires parking lots, community centers, trees and some other infrastructure, with a preliminary total investment of more than 818 billion VND.
The implementation progress is determined within 3 years from the date of the decision on land allocation or land lease, including completing basic construction and putting the project into operation and exploitation.
The winning investor is responsible for synchronously deploying technical infrastructure and social infrastructure within the project scope; handing over and putting it into management and use in accordance with current regulations.
Previously, reporting at the 24th Session of the 10th Da Nang City People's Council, term 2021-2026, Director of the Da Nang City Department of Construction Nguyen Ha Nam said that currently, the housing demand of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, laborers, and low-income people in Da Nang City is very large, especially after the merger of Quang Nam province and Da Nang City.
According to the Project "Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period of 2021-2030", the Government has assigned Da Nang city to complete 12,800 apartments in the period of 2021-2030; in the period of 2021-2024, 3,445 apartments have been completed (reaching a rate of 26.9% of the target, the highest among the 6 centrally-run cities), in 2025, it is expected to continue to complete 1,807 apartments.
In the above Project, the Government also assigned Quang Nam province to complete 19,600 apartments.
Thus, in the 2026-2031 period, Da Nang City (after the merger) must complete at least 27,148 units. This is a very large number, requiring focused investment in social housing development to ensure the targets assigned by the Government.
