On June 29, the Department of Construction of Khanh Hoa province said that by the end of 2024, the locality had basically completed 3,364 social housing units out of a total of 3,400 units assigned by the Prime Minister in the period of 2021-2025, reaching a rate of 98.9%.
In 2025, according to Decision No. 444 of the Prime Minister, Khanh Hoa province is assigned a target of developing 2,496 more social housing units.
Meanwhile, according to the Housing Development Program approved by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, the demand for land funds for social housing development in the whole province by 2025 will reach more than 227 hectares, equivalent to nearly 1.8 million m2 of construction floor space, equivalent to 44,881 apartments.
In the 2026-2030 period, this demand will continue to increase to more than 337 hectares, equivalent to more than 2.3 million m2 of floor space (equivalent to 48,751 apartments).
To meet the above needs, in addition to reserving 20% of land fund for commercial housing projects, Khanh Hoa province needs to proactively plan and prepare independent land for social housing development. However, practical implementation is facing many difficulties.
Accordingly, many plots of land planned for social housing are still in the proposal stage, have not been approved for investment policy; or have policies but have not yet selected investors. Legal procedures related to land such as land allocation, land lease, land price determination, detailed planning, compensation and site clearance... are still pending and prolonged.
Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - Mr. Tran Hoa Nam - has requested the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to urgently complete the draft decision detailing the situation of people with houses but far from their workplaces still enjoying social housing support policies, according to Resolution No. 201/2025/QH15.
Mr. Nam also assigned the Department of Construction to review the demand for social housing in each locality to propose adding new land funds with development potential, ensuring compliance with general planning, zoning planning and land use planning.
In addition, it is required to research and propose solutions to remove difficulties in implementing social housing to ensure progress and targets assigned by the Government.
