On July 8, information from Ho Chi Minh City Police said that regarding the fire at Doc Lap residence (Phu Tho Hoa ward), through investigation, the initial cause was determined to be the collapse of the power line, people connected themselves to supply electricity to electricity consumption equipment on the ground floor of the residence, causing the fire.
During the settlement process, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency initially determined that Doc Lap residence had no escape design for the apartments on the ground floor, including apartments 0.19 and 0.20. The initial cause of the fire was determined to be that the power line supplying electricity consumption equipment in the 0.20 apartment on the ground floor of the residence (connected by the apartment owner) collided with an electrical short circuit, causing a fire in front of this apartment and the 0.19 adjacent apartment. In addition, in the public balcony of the apartments of this apartment building, there is also a situation of expanding and installing "tiger cages" to block people's escape through the balcony.

Although the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting, Rescue and Rescue Police of Ho Chi Minh City Police quickly arrived to control the fire and rescue a number of people trapped in other apartments, because these two apartments had only one escape in front and were on fire, the victims could not escape (no escape). At the time the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting, Rescue and Fire Prevention Police force controlled the fire and reached inside to bring the victims out, the victims had died. Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Ho Chi Minh City Police continues to prepare documents to strictly handle according to the law.
Immediately after receiving the report of the serious fire, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Police, along with functional units and local authorities, were present to direct fire fighting, rescue, overcoming the consequences, and investigating the cause; at the same time, organized visits, condolences, and provided support to the victims' families.

Ho Chi Minh City Police advise people not to arbitrarily connect unsafe power sources. Use electrical equipment and wires of clear origin, ensure they are suitable for the capacity, avoid overloading causing electrical insecurity. Regularly check whether the power lines that provide power sources for long-term electrical equipment are safe or not to take appropriate replacement measures. At the same time, when designing and constructing housing projects, they must comply with regulations on fire prevention and fighting safety, ensuring an escape route when an incident occurs. Any violation of regulations on fire prevention and fighting will be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law.
