On November 17, speaking with Lao Dong newspaper reporters, Mr. Tran Thanh Ba - Director of the Land Fund Development Center of Tien Giang province - said that there is only one household affected by the resettlement area of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project that has not yet handed over the site. The reason this household has not handed over the site is because they do not agree with the compensation price. Currently, the above household has filed a lawsuit in court to resolve the issue.
Mr. Tran Thanh Ba added that the investor's representative is carrying out bidding to select a contractor to construct the resettlement area of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project, striving to start construction in 2024.
According to the reporter's records on November 17, the land for the resettlement area of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project (located in Giap Nuoc hamlet, Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho city, Tien Giang province) has not yet started construction.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (name has been changed) - a resident affected by the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project - said that his family had handed over the land for the construction of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project. However, the authorities have not yet handed over the resettlement land, so he had to build a house on the remaining land outside the boundary of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project for temporary residence.
"I request the authorities to soon hand over the resettlement land to stabilize life soon," said Mr. Tuan.
Previously, on March 26, 2024, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province issued Decision No. 522 approving the resettlement area for the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction investment project (referred to as the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project resettlement area). According to this Decision, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge resettlement area is invested by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tien Giang province, with the implementation period from 2024 to 2025, with a total investment of more than 377.6 billion VND.
The objective of this project is to arrange land and build technical infrastructure system for resettlement area to serve the sub-project of compensation, support and resettlement of Rach Mieu 2 bridge construction investment project, connecting Tien Giang province and Ben Tre province (Tien Giang province) (including households affected by site clearance to implement resettlement area).
