In order to build a green space for Quang Ngai urban area, since 2015, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City has planned to invest in building a love park on the land fund including agricultural land, inefficient annual crop land and a part of residential land of neighboring households.
In addition to the function of urban greenery, the project is also expected to become a highlight of landscape architecture, serving the needs of entertainment and entertainment for people. In particular, the park is expected to be deep humanity - where each couple will grow a tree, forming a "love forest" in the heart of the city.
However, after nearly 8 years of "trampling on the spot", in December 2023, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City officially ended the Love Park project. Instead, the land is adjusted to build a complex of primary and secondary schools, with a total investment of VND 154 billion.
Although the new project has been approved and planned to start construction in early 2024, up to now, the land is still abandoned, overgrown weeds, cattle and buffaloes, absolutely no signs of construction. In the middle of the city center, a golden land has been wasted seriously for nearly 10 years.
According to Mr. Nguyen Lam - Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai City People's Committee: The Love Park project has implemented the site clearance and leveling about 1 ha. According to the adjustment of the general planning of Quang Ngai City to 2040 (approved in Decision No. 949/QD-UBND dated October 11, 2021), this land is shifted to use the purpose of use to education land, to serve the needs of building an increasingly urgent educational infrastructure.
The new project-Chu Van An Primary and Secondary School has been approved by the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City, the feasibility study report in Decision No. 338/QD-UBND dated 05.02.2025. However, according to Mr. Lam, the commencement of the school project must wait until the beginning of 2026, because the city is still balancing investment resources.
Thus, although there have been two plannings, this land is still a wastelization in the center of Quang Ngai City, lasting nearly 10 years, reflecting the stagnation in the management and implementation of the project in Quang Ngai City. In the context of the increasingly scarce central land fund, the reclamation of a "golden" land in the heart of the urban area not only wasted the resources but also affected the appearance and quality of life of the city people.
