Thanh Hoa sets a target to complete 900 social housing units in 2026

Thanh Hoa - The province requests to review the progress of projects and remove obstacles to complete 900 social housing units in 2026.

On June 30, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that on the afternoon of June 29, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee chaired a conference to listen to a report on the demand for social housing in the province in the period 2026-2030.

According to a report by the Thanh Hoa Department of Construction, in the period 2021-2025, there are 13 social housing projects in the province, mainly concentrated in wards of the old Thanh Hoa City. To date, the projects have completed 4,534 units, with a occupancy rate of nearly 100%, showing that the demand for social housing in the area is very large.

In the 2026-2030 period, Thanh Hoa currently has 12 projects that have selected investors and are under construction, expected to supply about 12,102 social housing units to the market. However, through surveys and assessments of actual needs, the province needs to invest in about 20,402 more units from new projects.

In which, the old Thanh Hoa City area needs about 12,811 more units; the old Nghi Son town area needs about 4,881 more units. Some other areas such as Sao Vang commune, Lam Son commune, Yen Dinh commune, Nam Sam Son ward, Thieu Hoa commune, Ha Trung commune, Hoang Phu commune... need about 2,710 more units.

Social housing development in the province in the past time has achieved many positive results, contributing to solving the housing needs of people, low-income people and workers. However, the implementation process still has some difficulties and obstacles, affecting the progress and efficiency of project implementation.

Notably, some investors have not been truly proactive in allocating financial resources, human resources and organizing construction according to the committed progress. Some projects still encounter obstacles in site clearance, leading to implementation not meeting the set requirements.

Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh acknowledged the efforts and sense of responsibility of departments, branches, and localities in implementing the policy of social housing development. Many projects have been completed and put into operation, contributing to solving the practical housing needs of people.

To continue implementing Directive No. 34 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over social housing development in the new situation, as well as the Project "Investing in building at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period 2021-2030", the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to review the progress of projects under construction, especially projects without obstacles, ensuring the completion of the target of 900 social housing apartments in 2026 according to the target assigned by the Prime Minister.

The Department of Construction is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to work with investors to determine the roadmap for removing difficulties and obstacles in a number of projects such as: AMC I social housing project in Quang Phu ward; Social housing project on Bao Ngoai street, Hac Thanh ward; Social housing project in residential and commercial service areas of Quang Phu ward and Social housing project in Quang Thang ward.

The Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee also requested to review the survey data on social housing needs in the coming time, especially the needs of students, officials, civil servants, and public employees. Based on the construction plan approved by competent authorities and the targets assigned by the Government, sectors and localities need to clearly identify the implementation roadmap for each project each year, ensuring feasibility and closeness to practical requirements.

In addition, relevant localities are required to coordinate with functional sectors to review and rectify violations of projects during construction, in order to ensure the rights of homebuyers and residents at social housing projects.
