The investment project to build a 5-star international hotel project in Bai Chay ward is implemented by a private enterprise at Lot N5C, Area A2, Cai Dam Urban Area, Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province.
The hotel has a total land use area of 4,629 m2, including 20 floors, 3 basements, with 371 hotel rooms. This 5-star hotel has a total investment of more than 788 billion VND.
According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the project implementation area is in the World Natural Heritage buffer zone of Ha Long Bay, the protection area of 2 special national monuments of Ha Long Bay.
The project's operation period is 50 years, from the date of investment policy approval - June 23, 2025.
Regarding the project implementation progress, it must be completed within 36 months from the date of the decision to approve the investment policy.
Recently, in Bai Chay ward - the tourism capital of Quang Ninh - a number of large, luxury hotels have been put into service for tourists, including the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort hotel.
The appearance of many luxury hotels in Bai Chay contributes to improving the quality of resort services, increasing the experience for tourists but also creates fierce competition because the accommodation capacity in Bai Chay in particular and the old Ha Long City is very large.
According to statistics, the old Ha Long City currently has nearly 700 registered accommodation establishments with over 23,000 rooms. According to calculations, the number of rooms above can welcome about 4-50,000 visitors at the same time, while only on peak days of the tourist season can the above number be reached.
In recent years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, many hotels have had to close, some hotel construction projects are still unfinished because when completed, they will cost a large amount of money while the market is not as expected.
