Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park was approved by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 4099 dated December 25, 2008.
This is an industrial park built on the administrative boundaries of Lao Cai ward and part of Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city.
With a scale of 100 hectares, of which the land for factory construction accounts for 69.95 hectares, along with the land allocation rate for investors to implement the project by 2024 reaching nearly 90% of the total area.
Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park is planned as a "clean" industrial park, reserved for industrial types such as: Electronic assembly industry, processing and manufacturing of consumer goods, export and warehouses and freight transit yards.
Through research, currently Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park has 42 registered projects with a total investment capital of 979 billion VND, of which 41 projects are operating stably, 1 project is both operating and constructing phase 2.
Enterprises here have been creating stable jobs for 423 workers, with an average income of 5.8 million VND/person/month. In 2023, the total revenue of this industrial park will reach 174.4 billion VND.
In December 2024, the Ministry of Transport issued a decision to announce the opening of Dong Pho Moi dry port.
This dry port operates with the aim of exploiting, trading services and carrying out import and export procedures for goods and is expected to become an important logistics center, contributing positively to the development of the region.
On January 11, at Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the planned dry port is located in lots F9, F10 and part of lot F11 in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park.
Around the dry port area are a series of factories in bustling operation. At the time of recording, there were a number of employees working, and there were trucks transporting goods within the port area.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diu (a resident of Van Hoa commune, Lao Cai city) shared: "Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park is a large location, attracting many businesses to invest. Hopefully, this place will create more jobs for workers around the area when the dry port opens."

The newly opened port area has an area of 50,000m2, invested by VIMC Logistics Joint Stock Company. The scale includes a system of general warehouses, container yards, general yards, internal roads, vehicle assembly areas, vehicles, loading and unloading equipment, architectural works, technical networks, fences and trees.
The dry port is designed to handle about 65,000 TEUs (standard container units) per year, with reasonable investment scale and exploitation technology, ensuring economic and technical efficiency, while meeting the development needs of the region.
"When the port comes into operation, it promises to become an important logistics center, synchronized with the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway system, contributing positively to the development of the region," said the leader of the Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board.
