On June 22, the People's Committee of District 12 announced that the project to upgrade and expand Tan Thoi Hiep 21 road is over 1.7km long and 25m wide, with a total reclaimed land area of about 15,480m2.
The project affects 466 households, of which 407 cases have agreed to hand over the land and receive compensation, reaching a rate of 87.3%. The total amount paid to households is more than 855 billion VND.
According to the People's Committee of District 12, there have been 238 cases of house repairs to hand over the site. The project is expected to start construction on June 24.
However, there are still some households that have not coordinated in compensation and site clearance and have not repaired their houses to hand over on schedule.
District 12 is continuing to mobilize the remaining households to promptly agree to receive compensation, support and hand over the site, to ensure the project is implemented on schedule.

The Tan Thoi Hiep 21 road expansion project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2026.
When completed, the route will help increase traffic capacity, solve flooding problems, improve drainage systems and beautify the urban beauty of the area.
This is one of the important traffic routes in District 12, connecting two major roads, National Highway 1 and Duong Thi Muoi, but the current status of the road surface is narrow, degraded and often congested and flooded due to the lack of a complete drainage system.

The project to upgrade and expand Tan Thoi Hiep 21 road was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2015, with a total cost of more than 403 billion VND.
Initially, the road was planned to be widened to 16m, however, due to problems in compensation and site clearance, after many years, the project has only been able to construct a box culvert section along the route.
By September 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council had approved an adjustment to the investment policy, raising the total investment to VND 1,364 billion.
This adjustment includes widening the road surface from 16m to 25m, adding compensation costs, resettlement support, and building an additional 320m culvert on Duong Thi Muoi Street.
